In the heart of Chelsea, London, lies Kingsland Pre-Prep, a nursery that thrives on creativity. As part of Rocket Productions, they draw inspiration from the enchanting realms of children's literature and visionary filmmakers, challenging the conventional approaches to education.

Winsy Bamford-Flores, Director of Education for Rocket Productions, was keen to show us Anima Phonics in action at Kingsland Pre-Prep.

Miss Sophie (2nd year lead and Deputy Headteacher): I like how sequential Anima Phonics is. It offers a clear structure for me to design my sessions around and is easily tailored to all abilities. I also like how it is set up for multi-sensory, engaging and interactive teaching. With the rhymes, songs, actions and characters, it is so easy to challenge and extend children’s different abilities. This allows for a consistent approach across the setting and school as a whole.

I think the biggest difference we have noticed is in the engagement - children find Anima Phonics exciting and therefore I think grow in confidence quicker which does positively impact their reading and writing ability.

The 'Read and See' books are fantastic and are probably some of the most used resources by the children.

Lots of parents tell us how their child will come home and tell them about the new sounds, characters and songs and they are always keen to share their learning!

Which resources do you find most helpful?

"The flash cards are so useful in phonics sessions but also in provision in general. I feel they draw children over to activities as they are familiar to them and they are excited to apply their phonics skills."

“The Phase 2 books make early reading accessible to all levels, provide a great opportunity for children to revisit and consolidate learning, empowering when they can read it independently and the interactive challenges throughout the children enjoy so much."
