Phase 2
Introduces single letter GPCs with actions and animal mascots. 
Phase 3
Teaches the remaining single letter GPCs and common digraphs. 
Phase 4
Consolidates GPC knowledge and extends CVCC / CCVC reading skills. 
Phase 5
New spellings and common alternative pronunciations are taught in Units 3-5. Year One Screening Check GPCs are taught first. 
Phase 6
Units 6-9 introduce the past tense, how to add common suffixes and share useful spelling guidelines. Further GPCs are taught, as per the National Curriculum guidelines for spelling.
